Seniors Suffer Allenwood Defeat

It wasn't an ideal start to the Reserve C Championship as they fell to Allenwood in St. Brigid's Park, Kildare Town on Tuesday evening. A heavy downpour occurred about half an hour before the game, but as both sides warmed up, the clouds parted and the sun finally broke through.

Allenwood were quick off the mark, and registered a goal and three points before Ryan Moran registered Kildangan's first. Conor Mulholland, a newcomer to the senior team, ventured up the pitch from his corner back position to add his name to the scoresheet as well. Eric O'Hara and Stephen Quigley also added points, to give Kildangan a narrow 0-7 to 1-3 lead at half time.

The momentum seemed to be with Kildangan for the first ten minutes of the second half where we scored three to further the lead, but the men of Allen never showed signs of giving up and became more clinical as Kildangan stepped off. This allowed Allenwood to power through and secure a 2-11 to 0-12 win. The Greens take on Ardclough in the second round of the championship next Tuesday. Throw-in is at 7.30pm in Sarsfields Park, Newbridge.
