Kildangan Under 11s combined with neighbours Castlemitchell to serve up a skilful and attractive game of football in Kildangan Thursday evening. The Kildangan team had moved up a division following a great run in the earlier competition and this game proved that the team are well able to compete at this level.

The game ended in a draw, the scoreline 3:05 each. Both teams produced some excellent scores throughout the game.

Castlemitchell had the better of the earlier exchanges and scored a goal in the opening minutes. Kildangan were definitely ring rusty, registering several wides before opening our account with a brace of well taken points, Castlemitchell replying with another goal to stay in contention.

Kildangan replied with a goal of their own and closed the half with an excellent long range point. Kildangan were slightly ahead at this stage, having registered 1:04 to Castlemitchells 2:02 - remember points count as 3, with goals counting as 1 at this level.

On the resumption Kildangan went further ahead, adding a second goal to our tally, however it was a nip and tuck game, played at a blistering pace. Neither team were allowed much time on the ball, both sets of defenders showing excellent skill in snuffing out attacks.

Castlemitchell were equal to the task and entered the final minutes a goal up. Time for one last Kildangan attack, which yielded a goal, leaving the sides level.

The final scoreline of 3:05 each is a fair reflection of the tight nature of the game, which was played in an extremely sporting manner, with very few frees.
