Kildangan Under 13s have two wins from three in Division 4 of the Bord na nÓg league following a 5:07 to 2:05 win against neighbours Monasterevin tonight.

Kildangan raced into an early lead and were a goal and a point up in the opening five minutes, the goal a result of a ricochet off a Monasterevin back, the point a well taken effort by Daniel Gilbert.

Daniel continued the good work minutes later, putting the ball past the Monasterevin keeper following good build up play from Josh Burns and Mark O'Donovan. Further goals by Cormac Finnegan and Daniel Gilbert and points by Josh Burns and the aforementioned Gilbert left Kildangan in the driving seat at half time with a 4:03 to 0:01 lead.

Monasterevin had threatened on several occasions in the first half, however the full back combination of Bobby Wall, Thomas Browne and Aaron O'Connor were well up to the task.

Kildangan's Cian Murtagh stretched the lead further on the resumption with a well taken point, however Monasterevin came back into the game with a number of superbly taken points and two goals to leave the score 4:04 to 2:03 midway through the second half.

Just as things were starting to unravel for the home side a run down the left by Daniel Gilbert opened up the Monasterevin defence. The ball into the square was met by Cian Reilly who palmed it to the back of the net. Kildangan kept the foot on the throttle for the remainder of the game with a further goal by Cian Reilly and points by Daniel Gilbert.

The final score of 5:07 to 2:05 in favour of Kildangan was a fair reflection of the game. Overall Kildangan can be happy with their performance, especially the well taken scores by Daniel and Cian. The defence was solid throughout, especially in the first half.

Next game is a long trip up to Cappagh on Sunday morning 27th September.
