Kildangan SFL Update

Kildangan Seniors suffered a six point defeat to Sarsfields, in Kildangan Monday evening 20th, on a scoreline of 2:09 to 1:06. Sarsfields can consider themselves lucky as Kildangan led for all of the first half and most of the second. Entering the final quarter of the game a point up, Kildangan were rocked when two Sash goals in quick succession put the game beyond their reach.

Kildangan led by the minimum at half time, 1:03 to 0:05, Stephen Quigley opening the first half with a nifty goal. All of the Sarsfields first half tally as a result of frees, some of them of a soft variety. The second half scoring was opened by Keith Leavey, following which Sarsfields were awarded a penalty, which they elected to kick over the bar for a point. It was nip and tuck from here to the final quarter, where tiring Kildangan legs could not prevent the concession of two goals.

Kildangan had numerous chances to put the game away, a tally of nine wides tells its own story. However, there are a lot of positives that Kildangan could take from the game, as overall they were the better team for most of the game. The mounting injuries list, coupled with exam duty for a number of players eliminated the opportunity for fresh legs in the closing stages of the game.
Kildangan Scorers.Stephen Quigley 1-1, Eric O Hara 0-1, Tom Deveraux 0-1, Keith Douglas 0-1, Keith Leavey 0-2
