Kildangan Seniors Struggle Against Kilcullen

posted 24 Apr 2018, 13:58 by Kildangan PRO
Following the 6-9 to 1-8 win over Milltown in their last game, it was a night to forget for our senior team as they fell to a 1-13 to 0-4 defeat at the hands of Kilcullen on Monday evening at More O'Ferrall Park. Kilcullen had come off the back of a good win over Castledermot, and they brought this confidence with them.

The Rags ran riot in the first half, scoring 1-6 to Kildangan's no score. The men in green and gold started the second half well, as Damien Broughall sent over two points within five minutes of the restart. However, Kilcullen still had more to offer, and went on to score a further five points without reply. Eric O'Hara contributed a point, before Kilcullen added another two. Kildangan's Liam McCormack recorded the last score of the game from a free. Indiscipline went against the home side in this fixture, but this something they can learn from for future games.

Regardless of this result, a number of the players still put in good performances, and the team will be rearing to bounce back for the local derby against Monasterevan in More O'Ferrall Park next Monday at 7.30pm. A number of the Barrowside Blues players will be familiar to ours from both inside and outside the game of football, so this one is bound to be a cracker.

Kildangan: John Miller; Jordan Kaye, Bryan Adams, Conor Mulholland; Joey O'Sullivan, Darragh Kennedy, Kevin Christie; Luke Barry, Damien Broughall; Eric O'Hara, Philip Ryan, Robert McGrath; Ryan Moran, Dermot Hickey, Andrew Wilson.
Substitutions: Liam McCormack for Wilson (HT)
