Caragh and Kildangan put on a fantastic display of football in the third round of the Dowling Cup at St. Farnan's Park, Prosperous last Saturday. Both teams had already been knocked out of the competition, but you'd be forgiven for thinking this wasn't the case with the intensity of this game.

The first half was nip and tuck. Robert Hanley opened the scoring for the visitors with a free, following a foul on Kevin Christie. Ryan Moran hit the back of the net in the second minute to put the visitors 1-1 in front. A Caragh midfielder struck back a point from a free, followed quickly by a goal of their own. Stephen Quigley supplied the next three Kildangan scores of the game, with a Caragh point in between, before Tom Moran got Kildangan's second goal. Caragh added three points to their tally, before putting away a goal. With the two teams now level, Quigley hit the last point of the half to see Kildangan 2-6 to 2-5 in front at the break.

Both teams stepped it up a gear in the second half, but nevertheless, it was Kildangan that took complete control of the game from here. Hanley converted a free in the thirty-sixth minute, with another point from play five minutes later. Captain Padraig Casey added Kildangan's next point. It was Ryan Moran who killed off Caragh's chances with a great goal and a point ten minutes from time. Two Hanley frees and a point from Kevin Christie gave Kildangan 3-13 to 2-6 victory. Caragh scored their last
(and only) point of the half in injury time.

Attention must now turn to Division 3 of the Senior Football League which begins in three weeks. Kildangan's display in this game should definitely provide them with some confidence for the upcoming campaign, and with a number of players still to return, the future is looking bright.
