Kildangan Open 2016 Season with Loss

Kildangan Seniors commenced our 2016 season with a cracking Dowling cup encounter against Milltown in Kildangan on Saturday. Kildangan raced into an early lead and were three points to the good before Milltown opened their account with a  point. Milltown added another point and then took the lead with a well worked goal.

Milltown then applied additional pressure and some well taken points left the score at half time 1:05 to 0:04 in favour of the visitors.

The second half continued the pattern of the first with Milltown looking dangerous on the overlap. Kildangan never capitulated and the final score of Milltown 1:14 to Kildangan's 0:09 is a fair reflection on the game.

Kildangan showed a lot of rustiness throughout the game, not surprising considering that this was our first competitive outing since 12 September. Despite this, the team can be happy with our performance and will only improve with the higher standard that Junior A and Division 3 football will offer.

It's difficult to judge form on these preseason competitions, especially with some regulars missing from the starting line up due to illness and injury.
