Kildangan Nurney U16s Get By Ballymore

In the first round, Kildangan-Nurney played away to Ellistown and came away with a 1 point win, and you couldn't call it right up until the final whistle. There was not a whole lot between the sides on Monday either, and if the match ended two minutes earlier or later, the outcome could easily have been different.

In the warmup, the heavens opened and the conditions stayed that way for a lot of the first half. The scores came thick and fast for both teams right from the off, but handling was a real challenge because of the rain. It’s fair to say that at half time while Nurangan had a one point lead, they could be considered fortunate as Ballymore just didn’t have their shooting boots on and amassed quite a few wides. With that being said, the away team didn’t take all their opportunities either, but were more efficient with less chances.

Second half was exactly the same, although the rain did ease. The winning of the game for Kildangan Nurney was the commitment and determination of the defence, who had been under a lot of pressure from the very capable midfield and half forward line of Ballymore.

Everyone was delighted at the final whistle for the narrow 5-7 to 5-5 win, the great performance but also the opportunity to get warm and dry.
