Kildangan Field Day 2011

Our Field Day was held on Sunday September 11th. This year we decided to revamp the day slightly by bringing in Bouncing Castles and a bucking Bronco. However there was still room for old favourites like the slow bicycle race and pony rides. Thankfully the rain held off and the wind died down for most of the day.

As always the underage footballers held centre stage and the large crowd of spectators can't have been but impressed at the marvelous skills and fierce determination on display. Between games we had various sack and three legged races, again fiercely contested by all the children.

The smell of the BBQ proved impossible to resist for many, the burgers and hot dogs were absolutely delicious.

No field day would be complete without Gerbils, the most hardworking members of the rodent family. Once again Richard Morgan was on hand to make sure they did the business.

The Crazy Golf was won by Eoin Hyland with Ryan Moran a close second, Ashling O'Toole won the hamper, Liam O'Donovan was the closest with the weight of the pig and Orla O'Donovan held on longest on the bronco to win top spot there.  The slow bicycle race was won by John Nealon, a man of many talents, John Kilbride and veronica Moran were runners up.

A day like this is dependent on a large number of volunteers to man the various stalls and thanks are due to everyone who lent a hand on the day, and also many thanks to Martin Higgins of Higgins Furniture Hire without whom the day would not have been possible. Finally thanks to all the people who supported the day, a vital source of funds for the club. Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the children.
