Féile Shield Semi-Final

 Cúchulainn Gaels  5-12  Rathangan 3-10

This shield semi final was played on Sunday in Rathangan under a very warm April sun and the drying conditions ensured a fast game played with a high level of skill from both sides.  The Gaels started the game with one intention and that was to qualify for the final, they went on the attack from the start and soon rattled off four quick points before Rathangan got on the score board.

The Gaels forwards had their shooting boots on, as they hit 2-8 in the first half and had their opponents trailing by 7 points at half time. In fairness to Rathangan they never gave up and at one point closed the gap to 4 points but the Gaels were not for surrendering and drove on again to win by eight points and to book their place in the final.

This was a great team effort, however it would be remiss not to mention the Cúchulainn Gaels net minder Dara Gilbert who made two point blank saves at crucial stages of the game, our 6 backs who were tenacious in every tackle, our midfield pairing and all of the starting forwards got on the score board to record a well deserved win. Cúchulainn Gaels go on to play Rheban in the Shield final, date and venue to be confirmed.

Cúchulainn Gaels Scorers; Conor Hyland 1-3, Ryan Moran 1-3, Shane Smyth 0-1, Jordan Kaye 1-0, Enda McSweeney 0-2, , Cormac O'Mahony 1-0, Robert Hanley 0-2. Conor Mulholland 1-1,
