This was a repeat of last year's Under 13 final and with only four points separating them on that occasion this contest was always going to be down to the wire. Cúchulainn Gaels, playing with the wind got the dream start with two early goals from Ryan Moran and Caoimhin Doolin. Another goal by Ryan Moran and some great points from Shane Smyth, Conor Hyland and Caoimhin Doolin kept the score board ticking over. To be fair to Castledermot they kept plugging away and got their just rewards with a goal just before the break. With only 4 points separating the sides the game was there for the taking at the interval.

It was the Gaels who started well after the break with some well worked points off the boot of Enda McSweeney and a goal from Robert Hanley. Castledermot threw everything at the Gaels and two great goals from Aaron Murphy and points from Gavin Keating had the sides level as the game entered the last 5 minutes, but the Gaels were not to be denied as they held on and finished with a great move from Robert Hanley, laying off to Caoimhin Doolin who delivered a quick pass to Conor Hyland and he finished with a shot to the net.

After a disappointing start last week this was a much improved team performance especially from the backs who were outstanding throughout. Once again net minder Dara Gilbert was to the fore. Dermot Hickey, Robert Hewison and Danny Leahy were exceptional in the backs, captain Cormac O'Mahony played a leaders role and covered every blade of grass and up front Ryan Moran, Caoimhin Doolin and Enda McSweeney had their shooting boots on and kept their opponents very busy.

Cúchulainn Gaels scorers; Caoimhin Doolin 1-1, Ryan Moran 2-1, Conor Hyland 1-1, Robert Hanley 1-0, Enda McSweeney 0-3, Shane Smyth 0-1.

Cúchulainn Gaels next play Kilcock at Home (Kildangan) next Sunday at 10:30am.
