Cúchulainn Gaels under 13s produced a scintillating second half display to overcome Round Towers and claim the Division3 Bord na nOg title on a scoreline of 2:08 to 2:02.  The game was played in Hawkfield Friday evening 21st Sept, a beautiful crisp Autumn night. The Gaels started very nervously and but for the heroic display of Daniel Cawley in goal Towers could have been home and hosed at half time. Indeed the lesson for Towers must be to take their points as they had at least four scoring opportunities in the first half saved by the keeper. The first half dominance of Round Towers resulted in a scoreline of 2:01 to 0:03 in favour of the Kildare Town team at the break.
If Daniel Cawley was hero in the first half, Stephen Keogh was hero of the second. Right from the whistle, team captain Stephen drove his team on, blocking, tracking back, hassling and last but not least scoring. The rest of the Gaels team responded in kind, ensuring that Round Towers first half dominance was not repeated. A solitary point was Towers only score of the second half, the Gaels second half score of 2:05 indicative of the turn around after the break.
Well done to the team and mentors on a never say die display.
