Community Meeting on Thursday 26th March

posted 16 Mar 2015, 05:05 by Kildangan PRO
There will be a community meeting in Kildangan Hall on Thursday 26th March at 8 pm with a view to setting up a community text alert scheme. Text alert coverage is planned for Kildangan Village and surrounding areas, extending as far as Fennor, Cloney, Boherbaun, Lughill, Mylerstown and Riverstown. All members of the community and wider areas are invited to join the scheme. To subscribe to the Text Alert Service, an annual contribution of €10.00 is necessary to pay for both the alerts that you will receive and the cost of road signage in the community. The scheme will be facilitated by An Garda Siochana and Muintir na Tíre.
Text alerts are a way in which subscribers can be quickly informed of suspicious activity, burglaries, thefts of machinery, farm animals, along with general warning and safety alerts. Any text alerts that you receive will be vetted by An Garda Siochana who will use their database of vehicle information combined with their knowledge of what may be happening in the community to assess the situation.
Text Alert Groups are up and running in many parts of  South Kildare and have proved very effective at combatting crime.  The Kildangan Text Alert Group initial meeting will be facilitated by Kildangan Community Development Association.
