Abbey Rangers U14s Outdo Milltown

Abbey Rangers and Milltown were toe to toe for 60 minutes in their Féile C Shield quarter final and there was never more than a few points between the sides for most of the match. It was an end to end game played on the first real warm Saturday of the year, and it showed on players faces. A few yellow cards correctly shown by the referee kept both teams in check.

From the throw-in, the Abbey Rangers forwards grabbed a couple of quick goals and a point. Milltown fought back quickly and that pattern continued throughout the first half. With the whistle going for a well earned half time break, the Rangers were holding a slim three point lead.

The second half mirrored the first, but with Milltown stronger in spells and, as a result, they got back to level pegging with about five minutes to go. A goal from open play and a penalty just pushed the Rangers on from their opponents and it was enough to give them a six point win in the end.

At the final whistle it was Abbey Rangers 6-8 to Milltown's 3-11. Well done to all involved. This win sees the Rangers progress to the shield semi-final. Keep an eye on our website for more details.
